Arife AKTUĞ / Illuminated Manuscript Artist / Turkey
She is the illumination artist of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Born in 1957, the artist is originally from Istanbul. She is a graduate of Istanbul University Faculty of Literature. She taught literature in Istanbul, Van, Yalova and Bursa. She started taking illumination lessons in 2000. In 2005, she opened her own workshop in Bursa Irgandi Bridge. She participated in many solo and group exhibitions. She promoted the art of illumination at art festivals in Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur. The artist, who closed her workshop in 2019, continues her works in her home workshop.
